Sophonie Milande Joseph, MUP, is a planning researcher-practitioner and Ph.D. Candidate in Urban Planning at Columbia University in the City of New York. She is an expert at conducting field research, in particular participant observation, interviews and ethnography. Her past research centers on diaspora’s collective remittances as development strategy, women’s recovery experiences in post-natural disaster contexts and the state of the planning discipline in small island developing states and least developed countries.
